Nataraja idol signifies Lord Shiva’s role as creator, preserver and destroyer of this universe. His ‘Tandava’ dance within the cosmic circle of fire symbolizes simultaneous and continuous creation and destruction of the universe.
In his upper right hand, Lord Shiva holds a ‘Damaru’, which represents creation of life while in the upper left hand, he holds ‘Agni’ which signifies destruction. His lower right hand, gestures Abhayamudra, which reflects blessings to those who follow the path of righteousness. Shiva’s lower left hand stretches diagonally across his chest with his palm facing down towards his raised left foot, which signifies spiritual grace and fulfillment through meditation. Shiva’s right foot stands upon the huddled dwarf, the demon Apasmara, who was an embodiment of ignorance.
This beautifully crafted unique Nataraja idol will surely amplify any living room or office space!
